Citrine

It would be remiss of me not to take a moment to talk about citrine during the month of November. As the name suggests, its can be a beautiful lemony yellow color, but often it is more brownish in hue making it the perfect stone for autumn.

Some stones are predestined to connect with us, especially our birthstones. For me, when I hold a piece of citrine it’s like holding a piece of myself because I identify so strongly with it.

It also happens to be the stone I need most on the daily. It’s like a warm, comforting piece of sunlight. It supports happiness and creativity and transforms negative thoughts and feelings into positive ones. It is sometimes known as the merchant stone or the success stone because it is believed to attract wealth and prosperity. I have not experienced those particular effects.

Citrine can be a little controversial. Natural citrine is rare, so often what you’ll find in stores is heat treated amethyst that resembles citrine. Personally, I do prefer the real deal for its deeper color and clarity, but I try not to be too uptight about it. They are both just differently colored varieties of quartz. Like I said before, it’s not always about the set meaning of a type of stone, but how individual stones make you feel.

This year for my birthday I bought myself this citrine point necklace. I chose this particular stone out of many others because it has a beautiful imperfection. A crack runs through it that diffuses light into a rainbow. It reminds me of the vision I have for The Prism Tarot and I believe it will help foster the positive energy I need to bring about its success.
