Sigils
A sigil is a type of spell used to manifest an intention.
I created this one as a signature for my cards because I wanted my intentions to be clear and present within each one.
The simplest way I know how to create a sigil, and the method I used to create this one, is the following:
Set an intention and write it down on paper. Make sure it is very specific and in the present tense. I.e. ‘I have that job I just applied for.’ (But you would probably want to state the job by name to be even more specific.)
Remove all the vowels and repeating consonants from the statement. In this example you’d be left with: HVTHJBSPLDFR
Take those letters and turn them into a design. It doesn’t really matter how you do this. Lines can be omitted, proportions can be wildly off, the arrangement is up to you. It’s all up to your personal interpretation. I turned the C in mine into a crescent moon. Often they are confined to a circular or square shape which makes things easier, but there are no rules.
Through the design process the original meaning becomes obscured, which is ideal. Once you’ve forgotten it, do not try to remind yourself of what it says.
When you are happy with what you see it is ready to put out into the universe. There are a lot of conflicting opinions on how to actually charge the spell, but I prefer the method of silent meditation while gazing at it softly until you feel it’s taken hold. Trust your gut.
Then you can put the symbol you’ve created wherever you like. I digitized mine and put it on the cards. If you aren’t attached to the original on paper you can optionally burn it and let the ashes be carried away in the wind, or bathe with it until the ink runs and the paper dissolves.
The most important thing is that a sigil is a spell designed to be forgotten. Once you put it out into the universe you have to trust that it will do its work.
When I was creating this one my husband asked if I was attempting to summon a demon, and while that is actually very funny, I suppose that is another use for it. Of course, I wouldn’t know anything about that.
