Lovers Spread
This spread is unique in that it is the first one I’ve designed to be read for two querents simultaneously. In keeping with the spirit of The Lovers, it treats both people as one.
Use this spread to see how two people are connected, how they complement each other, and where there may be conflict between them. It is like the mirror, except it reveals the you reflected in your partner. Obviously it can be done between lovers, but close friends and relatives may benefit as well.
The Lovers Spread
Type: Self-Reflection or Querent Driven
Level: Advanced
0- Natural Significators as chosen by the mirror spread or the zodiac method.
1- Body: How do you align physically? This can refer to the physical side of a relationship, but also domestic coexistence.
2- Mind: How do you align mentally? Do you share the same beliefs, intelligence, or moral compass? Are you on the same page about what’s important to you?
3- Soul: How do you align and support each other spiritually and emotionally?
4- How does your partner see you?
5- What lies at the core of your connection? What binds you together or pulls you apart?
To begin, the two querents should be seated side by side. If the reader is a third party, they will sit across from them. The reader will place the natural significators for each of them in the 0 position face up. The querents will then take turns shuffling the deck. The reader then splits it into three piles, placing one before each of them (decks a and b) and the third in between (deck c.) The querents complete the rest of their actions simultaneously. First, they will draw from their respective decks and place cards 1-4 face down. The reader will flip both cards in the 1 position, interpret them individually first, then how they relate to one another. They will continue this for cards 2-4. The querents will then draw and place the final card (5) together from the central shared deck (c) face up.
The ceremony of this spread is a bit of a dance of faith. The idea is that if you are connected in your purpose and your movements it will help you connect subconsciously. Optionally, you can add another level to this and have the querents connect physically by holding hands or linking arms while they perform their actions.
If you believe in the harmony between you and your partner the cards will reflect that. If you are having issues, hopefully they will guide you towards a harmonious resolution. I haven’t had a chance to try this spread with my husband, but if I do I’ll share the results here.
